Jack Doohan was born on 20 January 2003 on Australia’s Gold Coast. As the son of motorcycle legend Mick Doohan, he arrived with a well-known surname, but his route toward Formula 1 had to be built through the usual junior categories and academy systems.

He became closely tied to Alpine’s development structure and was gradually prepared for a future seat through testing, simulator work and reserve duties. That role mattered. It kept him near the team’s race operation and gave him regular exposure to the technical and strategic demands that separate Formula 1 from the junior ladder.

Doohan eventually made his Grand Prix debut with Alpine at the end of the 2024 season. He then started the 2025 campaign as a full-time race driver and added further starts before his role changed during the year. Even though the opportunity proved short, it still marked the key step every young driver is chasing: turning promise into an actual Formula 1 career.

His path did not end there. By 2026, Doohan remained attached to the championship through Haas in a reserve capacity, underlining that he was still seen as part of the wider Formula 1 picture. That combination of academy backing, Grand Prix experience and continued paddock involvement made his career more substantial than a simple cameo.
