Manor Runs Its Final F1 Race

27 November 2016

On 27 November 2016 Abu Dhabi hosted the last Grand Prix for the Manor team before it folded ahead of the following season.

The 2016 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina became a symbolic farewell for Manor, a team that had fought its way through financial uncertainty and constant rebuilding. The race on 27 November marked its final appearance in the World Championship. Despite limited resources, the team had remained a fixture at the back of the grid and was known for its determination to stay in the sport.

The season had offered brief signs of progress. With a streamlined structure and a small but dedicated workforce, Manor aimed to extract the most from its package. Points earlier in the year had lifted morale and kept the team within reach of key positions in the Constructors’ standings. But the late charge from rivals pushed Manor back, weakening hopes of securing crucial prize money.

At Yas Marina the drivers focused on a disciplined run, aware that the result carried emotional weight. The team worked with its usual efficiency, maintaining clarity on tyre strategy and managing traffic cleanly. Although the performance could not alter its position in the standings, the effort reflected the spirit that had defined the outfit since its early days.

After Abu Dhabi the team’s future remained uncertain, and attempts to secure new investment ultimately failed. Manor’s final race stood as a reminder of how challenging Formula 1 is for smaller entrants. Its exit closed a chapter defined by persistence, resourcefulness and a commitment to compete despite adversity.
